I have read the document called «The Basic Principles of Relations of the Orthodox Church with Non-Orthodox» a number of times. It makes a perfect sense to me. Actually, the main idea of the document is that the Church must continue Her witness of Truth and carefully direct Her efforts to «the universal establishment of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church», as ROCOR puts it. ROCOR can not even make comments on that document, because everything expressed in it is orthodox. But, I think, ROCOR bishops are most of all upset with MP for the «forced confiscation of churches and monasteries from the Church Abroad», which ROCOR has been able to neither maintain, nor support any further. That's the key to the problem. And, we can forget all that fluff they put in the Epistle about «proclamation to the whole world our stand for the Truth in vain if the members of our Church prefer not the personal life of virtue but of suspicion towards others, arguments, the formation of groups for the condemnation of others, and various actions which shatter the life of parish and diocese. This ruination, which draws into everlasting destruction each who participates in it, inevitably besmirches the face of our whole Church and weakens its witness.» They had to put this there to excuse themselves, because this is precisely what their «course» during the past ten years has caused.
